Bullets Bust Out Back Windshield of Car An unknown shooter shattered the back windshield of a car as three women and two children were inside. Orange police report the shooting was about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the 1000 block of Orange Avenue. Officer L.T. Holland said he met the women in a parking lot a couple of blocks away and saw the windshield. The women told him the car was in a vacant lot next to the railroad tracks. OC Health Inspections
Spiders and black mold added to the demerits at the lowest-scoring food service business inspected in the latter part of June. Orange County Health Inspector James Scales went to 31 restaurants, cafeterias and food businesses during the last half of June. He gave 11 perfect scores of 100 and made two pre-opening inspections. The Donut Palace, 11258 Highway 12 in Mauriceville had the lowest score with a 78. Besides finding foods not at safe temperatures, Scales also found several spiders along a corner of the wall and ceiling. Black mold was on the wall at a sink. County Budget Workshop
The Commissioners Court held the first of two budget workshops Wednesday afternoon. County Auditor Mary Johnson presented the Court as well as several department heads attending the workshop a rough draft of an approximately $41 million balanced budget. A 28-year-old Orange man pleaded guilty to federal charges in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales. Jonathan Michael Swearingen pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zachary J. Hawthorn.
