Just about one month to the day Bridge City is following through on a promise made to a couple that spoke to the City Council. On June 16 Bob and Marie Bonnin told the City Council that the property next to their home in the 2300 block of Beverly had head-high weeds and a dilapidated structure that needed to be torn down. Preservation Commission Approves Demolitions
The City of Orange Historic Preservation Commission must approve the demolition of any building within the designated Old Orange Historic District. On Tuesday, the commission had no problem allowing lots of two houses to be cleared. The vacant houses had been destroyed by arsonists on the Fourth of July weekend. The house at 602 W. Cypress Avenue was built in 1902 and the house at 1207 W. Park Avenue was built in 1925. Domestic fight leads to stabbing A 30-year-old man was stabbed in the arm during a family dispute early Wednesday morning. Orange police report that he did not want to press charges. However, when police were at the hospital emergency room, a person who was with the family and friends was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana. Officer R.G. Ashworth reported that the staff at the Baptist Orange emergency room notified police about the stabbing at 4:40 a.m. The staff also said several people with the victim were causing a disturbance. UPDATE: Thursday morning Bridge City Police reported a missing 80-year old woman with dementia who wandered away Wednesday night was found safe. The police report that Mildred Resch was found about 6:45 AM Thursday after she walked away from the 200 block of East Roundbunch Road at about 6:45 PM Wednesday. The search for Resch started just before midnight Wednesday and included the use of search dogs from Beaumont.
