Body Found in BC

Monday morning Bridge City Police recovered the body of a man who had been missing since Saturday night.  Richard Lee Stone, 52, of Bridge City was reported missing Sunday after he didn't return home Saturday.    Officers found his body in the canal that runs along Roundbunch, across from Bridge City Bank.  Stone usually walked around town and police and others were familiar with his paths and started tracking them when they located Stone about 200 yards from his home on Connecticut St.  Police aren't expecting foul play but will wait on autopsy results. … [Read more...] about Body Found in BC

Laverne Pollock Ridley, 83, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 16, 2015, at Golden Years in Orange. Service and inurnment of cremated remains will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Born in Beaumont, Texas, on April 8, 1932, she was the daughter of Eugene Pollock and Ella Mae Hall Pollock. Mrs. Ridley worked as a realtor and owned Ridley Realtor. WOS Band Camp

WO-S High School Band Camp will begin July 27 West Orange – Stark High School Band Camp will begin Monday, July 27 at 7 a.m. All eighth grade through twelfth grade members of WO-S bands should report to the High School Band Hall for the event. The camp will run from July 27 until August 7. Band Camp will be held Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a one hour lunch break from 12 – 1 p.m. Band students should wear dark shorts, plain white t-shirts, comfortable shoes, and a hat. Restaurant Inspections

Restaurants and food service businesses scored mostly high during health inspections during the first part of July. Only two of the 19 businesses inspected received a perfect score, but 12 of the 19 rated in the 90s. Violations leading to demerits included flies, gnats, spider webs and mold in drink dispensers. Texas Country Store at 16th Street and Interstate 10 had the lowest score with a 79. The store had no major violations but a number of infractions including general cleaning. Accident Friday

A Dodge Charger had major damage in an accident Friday afternoon about 2:30 on North 16th Street at Interstate 10. Orange police said the Charger collided with a lowboy trailer full of lawn equipment after the pickup truck pulling the trailer turned in front of her. Attendants with Acadian Ambulance Service checked the woman but she did not go to a hospital.
