Natalie Vivian Teal, 85, of Orange passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor. Natalie was born on February 13, 1930 in New Iberia, Louisiana to parents Martha (Dugas) and Felix Sheridan Fridley. She had lived in the Orange area since 1966 and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. Natalie enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching movies and loved to watch EWTN. Twenty years ago, Joe Will built his house with the expansive porch and log-covered exterior. His wife, Sue, filled the porch with rocking chairs for family and friends to relax. These days, Will can’t go up the four steps to the porch. He has what's commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It's a degenerative nerve disease. Public Defender Workshop
Public Defenders for capital cases gave a presentation to the Commissioners Court during a workshop Tuesday afternoon. The 8-year old agency provides qualified defense attorneys for defendants in capital murder cases. The service does come at a cost to the county. Jack Stoffregen with the Public Defenders said the premium to Orange County would be $22,532 a year to insure the county would be covered by their services if there was a death penalty capital murder case in the county. Breedlove Field at the Dan R. Hooks Stadium. During a split vote Monday night, the school board decided not to spend $5,500 for the sign.
