Matt Bryant has been killer in recent years for the Atlanta Falcons, which means it's time to throw some love his way. According to a recent breakdown by Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus, Bryant ranks as one of the top kickers in the entire NFL in terms of consistency. Ruby Lea Norwood Rachal of Orange, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday, July 31, at her home surrounded by her family. Ruby was born on March 5, 1925, in Orange County to Clarence and Docia Linscomb Norwood. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Rachal; grand-daughter, Lea Tate; and sister, Naomi Tessereau. Crawdad’s Robbed
Two masked men hit a Crawdad's clerk with a pistol and stole money from the cash register Thursday night. The robbery was about 8:30 p.m. at the Crawdad's at Interstate 10 and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Orange. Orange Police Officer Justin Kirkpatrick reported the clerk was not seriously hurt and declined medical attention. OCARC Fishing Tournament Still Going Strong in 28th Year
For 28 years the OCARC in Orange has been sponsoring a fishing tournament as a fund raiser for its clients. In 1956 a group of parents joined together to form an association to provide an avenue for their children after they completed school. Originally OCARC was located at the Thomen Community Center. Land was donated and buildings were built with private money to relocate OCARC to its present home of 8th Street and Park Avenue. Scattered thunderstorms brought a bit of rain and relief to the heat in Orange County Thursday afternoon, but not every neighborhood got rain. The National Weather Service station at the Orange County Airport recorded a temperature of 100 degrees at 2:35 p.m. Thursday. Wednesday's recorded high at the airport was 98. The showers dropped the temperatures down to 84 degrees at the airport, but the heat returned after the rain went by. A wind gust during a thunderstorm was recorded at 28 mph. Retirement Past Due For Will
Thursday was Sue Will's last day of drawing a paycheck for working at the Orange Public Library. After 20 years on the job, she retired. However, she'll be back, she told a group gathered for an afternoon reception. She said she plans to come and volunteer at the library. Will retired to spend more time with her husband, Joe Will, who has Lou Gehrig's disease, or ALS. He also attended the reception in a wheelchair.
