The Little Cypress – Mauriceville Honey Bears Drill Team attended a ‘home camp’ last week to learn choreography for their field routines for the upcoming 2015 football season. The Honey Bears hosted two fantastic choreographers from the Academy of Performing Arts in Magnolia, Texas for the camp. The girls honed their skills in a daily technique lesson and learned five field routines and three pep rally routines during the four day camp. OFD Fights Fire on First
Shortly before midnight on July 31, OFD responded to a structure fire in the 1200 block of 1st street. The home was occupied by a family of three, 2 adults and 1 child. After interviewing the home owner it was determined the fire was accidentally set due to a candle being knocked over. One bedroom and a hallway was heavily damaged by fire while the remaining structure sustained smoke damage. Scofflaw goes into effect August 3, 2015 Monday was the first day that the recently approved Texas Scofflaw went into effect in Orange County. The Commissioners Court approved implementing the Scofflaw at the end of June. It allows Orange County to deny the renewal of a vehicle registration for citizens who owe the county a fine or fee. Vidor Man Dies In Newton Co.
At approximately 8:00pm, there was a motorcycle crash on FM 1004 near CR 3089 in Newton County. A 1996 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on FM 1004. As the vehicle went into a curve, the driver lost control of the motorcycle. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet. The driver, Henry McIntyre III (37) of Vidor, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Michael Greer. Orangefield Water Supply issued a boil water notice on Friday at 6 p.m. following a water main break and subsequent drop in water pressure. Oak Manor Subdivision is affected, with streets including Beverly, Holly Ridge, Laura, Holly and Devin. To ensure destruction of any harmful bacteria, water for drinking, cooking and ice-making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. SUV gone after keys left inside One quick step into a store wasn't quick enough for a customer at Tractor Supply off Interstate 10. The man's SUV was stolen. Orange police were called at 9:08 a.m. Thursday to the store. The man said he had left the keys in the SUV and the door unlocked because he was going inside for about 10 minutes.
