A 40-year-old pickup truck driver was taken by ambulance to Baptist Hospital Orange emergency room after an SUV hit the driver's side on FM 105 Saturday morning. Orange Police Officer C.J. Foreman reported that 40-year-old Leah Aven Carpenter was traveling westbound in the 7600 block of FM 105 at Beadle Road. A Ford Expedition was traveling behind Carpenter's pickup and tried to pass as the pickup turned left onto Beadle. Three passengers in the pickup truck were not injured. County EDC A week after voting to cut funding to the Orange County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), County Judge Brint Carlton declared it is not dead. At Commissioners Court Monday Judge Carlton said the county is looking into alternative ways to bring economic development to the county. Carlton stated the county is working to come up with an alternative which includes still using the EDC perhaps in a restructured format since it is funded through the end of the fiscal year until October 1. Radio Tower grant August 3, 2015 Orange County will receive a grant from the Department of Homeland Security to build a radio tower which should help fill a gap in radio coverage for emergency responders. County Judge Brint Carlton gives credit to the county’s new Emergency Management Director Ryan Peabody for the county receiving the grant. The $1.4 million dollar grant will be used to build a 450-foot tower near the Vidor Police Department. 46-year-old Shannon Lewandowski of Orange was seriously injured Monday morning about 9 in a head-on crash on FM 1006 by the DuPont plant entrance. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports she had to be extricated and was then taken by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Trooper Stephanie Davis said that on Monday afternoon Lewandowski was undergoing surgery.
