The 5th ranked Deweyville Lady Pirates defeated the 7th ranked Woodville Eagles Friday night in four games ( 25-14, 22-25, 25-11, 25-22). The win moves Deweyville's record on the season to 14-2. Accident Friday in Mauriceville
At approximately 1:30pm, there was a three vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 62 in Mauriceville. The crash involved a commercial motor vehicle. A 2013 Freightliner flatbed truck was stopped for a red traffic light at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 62. A 2010 Chevrolet Utility van was traveling eastbound on Highway 12 and ran into the back of the Freightliner. Rear End Reverse Accident
No serious injuries were reported in a two-car collision that happened on 16th Street Thursday after a car backing out of a parking lot went across lanes of traffic and hit a car stopped for a traffic light. The 83-year-old man driving the Chevrolet Lumina that was in reverse gear told Orange police that his brakes didn't work. He thinks the accelerator also stuck. Police did not see skid marks. Evelyn was born on July 11, 1943 in Orange, Texas to parents Clothilde (Normand) and Laurence Buriel Peveto Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Orange and was of the Baptist Faith. A century ago, scattered farming families in central Orange County's Winfree Community had a difficult time getting to church on Sundays. Horses, wagons and buggies were the main transportation. What is now Old Orange Baptist Church was nine miles away across dirt roads that often turned to mud. Sometimes water pooled in foot-deep holes.
