A 33-year-old man was stabbed in the back outside a house in the 2400 block of Third Street early Friday morning. John Erick Sanchez of Orange was taken by Acadian Ambulance Service to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Police said his wound was not life-threatening. Orange Police Lt. Eric Ellison reported that 21-year-old Nathan Alexander Miller was arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon and taken to the Orange County Jail. Invista To Cut At Least 75 Employees
Invista in Orange is laying off 75 or more employees and shutting down the adipic acid manufacturing unit. Adipic acid is a precursor to making nylon. The local Invista plant was part of the original DuPont plant in Orange. DuPont sold its fibers branch to Koch Industries in 2003. The plant in Orange reports more than 600 employees and contractors work at the facility, but the company does not specify how many are full-time employees of Invista. The company has started notifying the impacted employees as part of the 60-days notice period. man in his Navy Park house was awakened early Sunday morning by someone breaking glass on the back door. Orange police arrested a 23-year-old woman who ran out of the front door as they arrived. Auto-Ped Accident Sunday
On Sunday at 4:30pm, officers of the Orange Police were dispatched to the 2400 blk. of 16th Street in regards to an auto-pedestrian accident. Upon arrival officers found a 43 year old white male resident of Orange County in the northbound outside lane of traffic. He had been struck by a northbound SUV driven by a white female. The Orange Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance Service responded to the location and the male subject was transported to Baptist Hospital–Orange. Restaurant Inspections
Only two of 26 food businesses had perfect scores during inspections during the last half of September. However, 12 of those had scores in the 90s. Orange County Health Inspector James Scales gave the perfect scores to the Econolodge in Bridge City and the Best Western Plus in Vidor. He also made one pre-opening inspection without a score for Mi Casa Mexican Grill on Strickland Drive in Pinehurst. Two inspections, the Gateway Travel Plaza and the Spindletop Restaurant on Interstate 10 in Vidor had inspections for changes of ownership. Those two also had no scores.
