A 65 year old woman received serious burns and was air lifted to a hospital after a stand off with authorities Friday. The Orange County Sheriff's Office was serving an eviction Friday morning to a woman on Abes Rd. off of N. Hwy 87. The woman barricaded herself in the home and wouldn't come out. Joel Christian Sonnier, 34, was arrested on Thursday, September 19, 2024, for the murder of Janette Carney. Carney's body was discovered inside her apartment on June 10, 2020. The Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a fatal crash on state Highway 62, near County Road 806, that occurred Thursday, September 19, 2024. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11:41 p.m., a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling south, while a 2017 Ford F-150 was traveling north. Arrest Made in Graves Murder
Derek Lennon Bradley was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office today, Sept. 19, for the murder of Casie Graves. Graves’ body was discovered in Orange County near the International Paper mill on September 16, 2023. The case was presented to the grand jury on Wednesday, September 19th, and an indictment for murder was issued. A warrant for his arrest was issued today, and Deputies were able to make the arrest. Accident Shuts Down Traffic
Around 2pm Thursday an 18 wheeler traveling westbound on I-10 caught fire near the Neches River Bridge following an accident. Both lanes of traffic had to be shutdown as the driver was airlifted to the hospital with unknown injuries. The closures backed up traffic on just about every major road in the Golden Triangle for the rest of the day. An all clear wasn't given until 8:30pm.
