St. Mary Catholic School students performed a living rosary. Each student said a prayer of the rosary and proceeded to their positions in the gym which formed an image of a rosary. Nylotis Goudeau was born on March 15, 1926 in Douets Eddy, Louisiana to Alexander and Bernice Bean. On May 15, 1954 she married Eugene Goudeau. Together, they had 3 daughters, Susie, Genia, and Velda. They settled in Orange, Texas and have been members of the First United Pentecostal Church for 49 + years. Deer vs Car
A man crashed his car into a tree Thursday night trying to avoid a deer that ran across Allie Payne Road. Orange police report that 37-year-old Grady James Briggs Jr. of Orange was taken by Acadian Ambulance Service to Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room. The accident happened about 11 p.m. near the intersection of Allie Payne with White Oak Road. Officer Tim Pruitt said Briggs was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on the road. Early Registration set to begin at Bridge City Little League BCLL will be accepting online registration for the Spring 2016 season for boys and girls ages 4-16 for baseball, softball, and challenge leagues beginning on November 1, 2015. The Bridge City Cardinals traveled to LCM and came away with a hard fought victory. The Cardinals received the opening kickoff and drove the length of the field with Kelly Tiller finishing the drive on a 12 yard run. Caleb DuBois added the two point conversion making the score 8-0. Caleb Honeycutt added a very nice run of 27 yards for a touchdown, with Max Baker adding the two point conversion. Making the score 16-8. Yes Means Less Taxes
Early voting starts Monday for seven propositions to the Texas Constitution. The first one, if approved, will cut local school taxes for homeowners across the state. The state currently requires public school districts to give a $15,000 exemption for homeowners with a homestead exemption from the local appraisal district. That means a home valued at $100,000 would pay taxes on a value of $85,000. The proposition, which approved by the Texas Legislature in the session earlier this year, will increase the state exemption to $25,000. Last week Coach Cornel Thompson challenged his West Orange-Stark Mustangs to put together eight straight quarters of football especially the first half for a game on the road. Coach Thompson gives his evaluation of the Mustangs’ performance at Liberty that most everybody played pretty well and hard in accomplishing his challenge with their four quarters against the Panthers. Bobcats Looking For Upset
It came down to the finals seconds last week, but the Orangefield Bobcats won their opening district game against the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks. Now the Bobcats will face the West Orange-Stark Mustangs. Orangefield will be playing without two-way starter Wesley Frillou. Coach Josh Smalley knows the competition does not get any tougher than the Mustangs. Smalley points out West Orange-Stark is the preseason pick to win the state championship in Class 4A Division II, and the Mustangs only loss this season was to a school with four times their enrollment.
