The West Orange-Stark Mustangs know all too well what the community of Alto is going through. Cam’ron Matthews, a junior at Alto High School, died Saturday afternoon after collapsing on the sideline during their Friday night game. During the game he told teammates that he felt dizzy. He later collapsed and was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler where he died. Three people were taken by ambulance to a local hospital early Sunday morning after a pickup truck in a parking lot crashed into a parked car and then drove over a grassy median and a concrete barrier. Orange Police Officer C.J. Foreman said the driver of the pickup truck may have had a medical problem that caused the collisions. The accident was about 1:30 a.m. in a business parking lot off Interstate 10 at Highway 62 South. Officer Foreman reported that 61-year-old James Mott of Beaumont was backing up a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. Texas Freshman Chase Shugart's play in the field and on the mound led the White squad to a pair of wins in the three-game Texas Baseball Fall World Series over the weekend. The Deweyville Pirates are looking for their first district win of the season. Coach Lance Dale says this week’s opponent the Hemphill Hornets use the Spread Offense. Dale indicates the Hornets like to run zone reads, throw the bubble screen, and will throw the fade route down the field. Coach John Launius’ son Myles is just a sophomore, but is the starting quarterback for Hemphill.
