Deer Accident/Theft
The second deer-related car accident within three weeks has been reported to Orange police. On Tuesday about 6:30 p.m., a driver reported hitting a deer on Womack Road under Interstate 10. Officer Corey Foreman said the car had minor damage. On October 15, a driver on Allie Payne Road near White Oak Road was injured when his car ran into a tree after he tried to avoid a deer running across the road. A woman living in the Charlemont subdivision told police that $6,750 in electronics, including four television sets, were taken during a break-in. GetDaNet Fishing Club is preparing to host its first tournament of the 2016 year on December 19, 2015 at Sam Rayburn. Weigh-in will be held at Caney Creek Park, but participants will not be required to launch there. Trailering for the tournament is O.K. This is not an open tournament. Participation has the condition that at least one angler from a boating pair must be a registered member of GetDaNet Fishing Club. Man Charged in Hit and Run
Orange police Tuesday night arrested a West Orange-Stark High School teacher and coach in connection with driving the car that hit and killed a young mother and daughter. Detective Captain Cliff Hargrave said 53-year-old Carl Broussard of Vinton, Louisiana, went to the police station at 9:30 p.m. to turn himself in to custody. He is facing two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. Orange County voters went with the statewide trend and approved all seven of the amendments to the Texas Constitution. The county elections administration office reports a total of 3,845 people voted Tuesday and in early voting. The local returns for Proposition 1, which will lower school taxes for home owners, had 3,453 votes 'for' and 354 votes ‘against.’ Proposition 6 established rights for Texans to hunt and fish. It passed here 3,367 votes to 391. Proposition 7 allocates a percentage of state tax money for roads and highways.
