Officer Receives Honor
A new non-profit organization called "Saving A Heroes Place," has recognized Lt. Eric Ellison of the Orange Police Department for his community service back in May when he went above the call of duty to be there for Kazzie Portie, a Little Cypress-Mauriceville senior who was graduating just days after losing both of his parents in an automobile accident. Robert Allen Hamilton was born July 7, 1959 in Orange, Texas to Hallie "Possie" Wukasch Herring and Robert Glenn Hamilton. Both preceded him in death, along with his beloved younger brother, Clay Morgan Hamilton, and cousin, Sterlin Wade Stringer. He is survived by family, Linda Hamilton Sanders of Conroe, Texas and Dr. M. Jason Sanders of Houston, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews in Orange, Texas who Robert always held dear to his heart. The chance for a possible district championship was lost last week by the Bridge City Cardinals in a defeat to Silsbee, but fortunately no players were injured in the loss. Coach Dwayne DuBois and the Cardinals are getting ready for the Splendora Wildcats who use a truly multiple offense. Before 1946, people in Orange found jobs in "the shipyards, the pickle plant or the ABC Store or some small business," Bob Crew said Tuesday. The DuPont Company built Sabine River Works as World War II ended and changed local history. "We thank DuPont for providing Orange with great jobs," he said.
