Two men were taken to Baptist Orange Emergency Room Sunday afternoon following a collision on Strickland Drive at the Home Depot entrance. Orange Police Officer Nicholas Medina reported that a Dodge Charger was traveling southbound when a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck turned left into an entrance at the big box store. The truck hit the Charger, which went into a ditch and hit a fire hydrant. Orange police took a 14-year-old boy to juvenile detention Sunday after he threw a knife at an older relative. Officer Dylan Mulhollan reported he went to the 200 block of Schley at 11:42 a.m. Sunday and was met by a group of people outside telling him someone inside had knives. An older man was inside with two knives that he gave to the officer. The man said he had come to the house because the boy's great-grandmother asked him to help discipline the boy for stealing. Leadership Southeast Texas has named six local community leaders to its 2016 class. The group has been given the task to select a community service project in the area. The Orange County Team has chosen to support the Veterans Advocates of America in Vidor by helping with the completion of a 650 square foot office expansion. The VAA assists veterans in filing for their benefits as well as interceding with the Veterans Administration on medical issues.
