The City of Orange has moved their nativity scene from the front of City Hall to Stark Park which is next door to city hall. The move comes after atheists wanted to place a banner next to the nativity scene. Coach Cornel Thompson says the Mustangs are pretty healthy heading into the big game Friday, and his young Mustangs that started workouts in the summer have matured during the long season. City Denies Request, Taking Nativity Scene Down
The City of Orange received a request to place a banner in front of City Hall from the Orange County Atheists on December 9, 2015. This request was based on the annual Nativity scene that has been erected for many years at City Hall. The City is denying the banner request. The city said, "Based on this request, the City reviewed current case law. Robert Bergeron, Detective with the Bridge City Police Department, is warning residents and even those outside of Bridge City about a scam in the area. Bergeron said some people have received fraudulent arrest warrant notifications from the BC municipal court, complete with City of Bridge City logo on it. The email or letter states that you will be arrested and jailed if you do not pay your fines thru a fraudulent website address or by calling a phone number that Bergeron has traced to Cambodia. On Monday the final day to file for the March 1, 2016 primaries, a surprise candidate has filed to run as a Republican for the Precinct 1 County Commissioner. Ryan Peabody the current Emergency Management Coordinator for Orange County is running for the seat. Filing Deadline Passes, No Democrats
Monday is the last day to file for running in the party primaries on March 1. Five Republicans have filed to run for the Precinct 1 county commissioner seat being vacated by David Dubose. In Orange County, no Democrats filed for local elections. The county has six contested races in the Republican Primary. Two of the contested spots are county-wide offices. Two Girls Found Safe
Two sisters ages 5 and 7 were found safe in Orange Sunday after a car-jacker in Louisiana stole the truck they were riding in. Orange Police Detective Captain Cliff Hargrave said Louisiana law enforcement tracked the truck with a cell phone that had been left inside. Patrol Captain Keith Longlois found the girls inside the truck parked in the 300 block of North Street off Simmons Drive. The girls told police they heard the car-jacker talking on the phone with other people. When he parked the truck on North Street, another pickup truck drove up. A man living at the Linkwood Apartments was assaulted Saturday night by a man he suspected of being a car burglar. The burglar got away after purposely ripping his shirt. However, the burglar left behind a cell phone. Orange Officer Brian Latiolais reported he went to the apartments at 1500 W.
