Orange police are investigating a gunshot that hit the windshield of a vehicle with three young adults inside. Detective Captain Cliff Hargrave said one of the men inside was slightly cut by glass that was broken by the shot. According to Officer Brian Latiolais, the shooting was about 5 a.m. Sunday at Eddleman Road near the cutoff to Interstate 10. Thieves stole Christmas presents for children and other items from two houses in Orange in the past days. Police were called to Bowling Lane on Friday night and to Sixth Street in the Brownwood area on Saturday night. In both cases, the residents weren't home and the burglars broke windows. Officer Logan Holland said the Friday break-in was reported about 9:50 p.m. in the 3400 block of Bowling Lane. Clothes and about 20 wrapped presents were stolen. Colorful new playground equipment for Sunset Park has arrived, but children may not get to play on it by Christmas because of the weather. City of Orange workers need to assemble the slides, climbing bars and other gear. Rain is in the forecast for the week and the workers won't be able to set up the playground. The city in October ordered the $41,000 equipment to replace old playground that was worn and becoming hazardous. The city is also planning a small skate park the site along 16th Street.
