Large Object Pulled Out Of River
An obstruction that has been snagging boats and possibly damaging boat propellers was removed from the Sabine River canal in Orange Thursday. Stan Floyd with American Airboats used his biggest model airboat, to tow the 99-foot long obstruction to his business near Interstate 10 on the east side of Orange. Gilbeaux’s Towing used its biggest wrecker to drag the triangle shaped wooden structure out of the water. Wreck Results in DWI
A 48-year-old man was injured and taken to a Beaumont hospital Wednesday evening after the truck he was driving overturned on FM 105 near Orangefield High School. Officer Dustin Myers with the Orange Police Department said the man will also face charges of driving while intoxicated, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a parole violation. Officer Myers said Michael Lee Stuckey was driving a Dodge 1500 pickup truck westbound on FM 105. The truck went off the roadway and overturned onto the driver's side. Girl Shot With BB Gun
A 14-year-old girl was shot in the leg with a BB gun Wednesday afternoon. The Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room notified Orange police about 5:30 p.m. after the girl's grandmother brought her for treatment. Officer M.T. Roush reported another teenager shot the girl while they were in the 2200 block of North Eighth Street in the Brownwood neighborhood. He said he would file Class C misdemeanor assault charges against the other teen. It was the second incident involving a BB gun within a week.
