Romero, Ragsdale Win Awards
West Orange Assistant Police Chief Jesse Romero and West Orange-Stark High student Ryan Ragsdale were honored for their community service Thursday night at the 73rd annual Camp Fire Banquet. Each year, the Orange Council of Camp Fire pays tribute to an adult and youth for their contributions to the community. WOC Auctioning Properties
Two schools in West Orange, including Carl Godwin Auditorium, along with a commercial lot on 15th Street in Orange will be up for auction in February. The West Orange-Cove CISD is preparing to sell its vacant buildings and land. The buildings are the original West Orange High School, which was later a middle school. Also to be sold are Lorena Oates Elementary School and the former administration building. The school board late last year declared the properties as surplus. Injunction Filed Against City
A lawyer who lives in the Old Orange Historic District is asking a state judge to stop the city of Orange from buying the First Financial Bank on 16th Street. The petition filed in the Orange District Clerk's Office says the city's plan to move city hall violates the City Charter and Comprehensive Master Land Use Plan. 260th State Judge Buddie Hahn has set a hearing on Tuesday. On January 28, 2016 at 4:45 pm. Detective’s with the City of Orange Police Department served an arrest warrant on 51 year old Charles Calverley. Calverley is one of two suspects in the January 25, 2016, Palais Royal burglary. With cooperation from citizens, detectives were able to gather information and obtain an arrest warrant for Calverley.
