WOS Discusses Licensing
The superintendent of the West Orange-Cove CISD Thursday night said the district is looking at ways to protect the image of the West Orange-Stark Mustangs by overseeing official images. Rickie Harris spoke at a community meeting to talk about possible licensing requirements for T-shirts and other items with the flying WO-S image and the district's seal of the mustang horse. Council Meets Tuesday
The city of Orange may be signing a contract with the Stark Foundation to install promotional banners on light poles along Sixteenth Street. City Council meets Tuesday and will be voting on a recommendation from Planning Director Kelvin Knauf "to enter into a contract agreement" for the banners. Knauf in a memo to City Manager Shawn Oubre said "the City staff is interested in hanging banners on the light poles along 16th Street to promote tourism and partner with the Stark Foundation concerning the banners." Two of the three incumbents for the Bridge City school board have opponents in the May election. Bryant Champagne has filed against Place 4 incumbent Thad Hill, who is also running. Place 3 incumbent Rebecca Rutledge is being challenged by Bryan Gremillion. So far, Place 5 incumbent Jerry McInnis is the only person to file to run for Place 5. Lark Street Sewers
Lark Street in Pinehurst is getting new sewers and the project is nearing completion. Simco Enterprises was awarded the contract for the sewer project under a grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture. Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood said there will be funds of about $50,000 from that grant that will be used to extend the scope of the sewer improvement project.
