The BC Cardinals fend off Kelly's late push Monday and hold on to win 8-6. Kelly wasn't able to overcome the big hole it dug itself, falling behind by seven runs in the fourth inning. For the Cards, Bradley Thibodaux reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth inning. Tod McDowell recorded the win for the Cardinals. At approximately 12:15am, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a crash between a bicyclist and a motor vehicle on the eastbound service road of Interstate 10 at Adams Bayou in Orange. The crash involved a police officer with the Orange Police Department. Beebe Talks Zika Virus
Concern of the spread of the Zika virus from South America to Southeast Texas is being addressed by Orange County Mosquito Control Director Patrick Beebe. As recently as this week Beebe has been in contact with the state health department concerning the Zika virus. Beebe said health officials are working to develop a test to detect the Zika virus. He indicated at this time there is not a test available. A motorcyclist was injured Saturday afternoon when he ran off Eddleman Road at a curve. Orange police report 40-year-old Craig Broughton was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Police report he was driving east on Eddleman Road near Memorial Drive about 5 p.m. when he ran off into a ditch and the motorcycle overturned. Cards Play Well At Tourney
BC Varsity softball team started their season off great this past week defeating Livingston on Tuesday and placing second in the Southeast Texas Kickoff Tournament in Beaumont. The Lady Cardinals defeated Vidor twice, West Brook, West Orange Stark, and Hardin Jefferson in order to place them in the championship game against La Porte. La Porte was held to just one run while Kassidy Wilbur worked hard on the mound recording seven strike outs until the sixth inning.
