The Commissioners Court approved Tuesday entering into an agreement with Strategic Planning and Project Development, Inc. Scott Young representing the legal finance company which has its expertise in dealing with innovative funding for government entities presented the agreement to the Court. Commissioner Jody Crump believes the agreement will benefit the county. Crump advised that the City of Vidor has used innovative funding with its new abatement program to stimulate residential housing construction. LCM StuCo Honors Veterans
On Saturday, February 20 members of the LCM HS Student Council and KEY Club traveled to Rest Haven Cemetery in Silsbee, TX and placed headstones for three deceased military veterans to give them the rest in respect they so deserved for their service to our country. When a veteran passes away the VA provides the family with a headstone but the cost to have it set is 100% of the family’s responsibility unless the veteran is buried in a military cemetery. Foul trouble and poor outside shooting doomed the LCM Bears Tuesday night in a 62-49 bi-district loss to Huffman. It was also the final game as the Bear coach for Darin Harley, who is moving to northeast Texas. The Bears (13-21) had a 26-25 lead at the half, and they kept it close in the third, down 44-41. It was the fourth quarter when Huffman outscored the Bears 18-8 to win by 13. The Falcons were 8-13 from the free throw line in the fourth while LCM did not shoot from the stripe. On Monday, February 22nd, 2016 at approximately 4:00PM, Narcotics Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Orange Narcotics division arrested a white female at the intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 12 in Mauriceville, Texas. Investigators observed a white Chevrolet pick-up truck which failed to signal a turn and also drove on the shoulder of the roadway along Highway 62. BC Falls to Coldspring 57-54
The Bridge City Cardinals fell behind in the second quarter after having a 14-9 lead and never could catch up to the Coldspring Trojans, losing 57-54 in bidistrict action at East Chambers High School. BC had three players in double figures with Dane Piper scoring 10 and Graydon Glover and Justyn Romero putting in 12 each. It was Romero's defense that helped keep BC in the game. Jerry Wayne Slone, of Deweyville, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home in Deweyville at the age of 55. Jerry was born on July 27, 1960 in Orange, Texas to Johnnie Mae (Stephens) and Jerry Dean Slone.
