On Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, between the hours of midnight and 3:30AM two white male subjects committed numerous burglaries of automobiles in the Hi Ho edition. The streets include Beagle, Bassett, Huntsman, and Thousand Oaks. The Orange Police Department received several calls for service regarding the burglaries. Poles Pulled Down
UPDATE: The road was reopened and power restored approximately 8pm Thursday, 1:30pm - An 18 wheeler carrying a large tank pulled down a couple of poles on Hwy. 105 near Cottonwood (near Hwy 87). The live wires also started a grass fire that was put out by the Orange Fire Dept. Hwy. 105 is shutdown in that area. Over 600 customers including Orangefield Schools were without power. OCSO Arrest Wanted Man
Wednesday the Orange County Sheriff's Department arrested a Honduras man who is wanted for murder in North Carolina. Following a traffic stop on I-10 of a vehicle with three men, a murder warrant was discovered on one of them. He's identified as 34 year old Ramon Funes. North Carolina authorities flew to Orange Thursday to interview him. According to authorities and reports, Funes is wanted in connection to the murder of Khyre’ Jamaal Grier on September 26 in Charlotte, NC. Riley Sentenced To Prison
An Orange, Texas convicted felon has been sentenced to federal prison for a firearms violation in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs. Robert Milton Riley, 40, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 48 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on October 3, 2024. Vidor Man Dies After Fall
A 36 year old Vidor man died Thursday morning after a fall at the Beaumont Clean Ammonia plant site on Hwy. 347 in Jefferson County. The Beaumont Clean Ammonia site is owned by Woodside Energy and construction is managed by OCI. Authorities said the accident happened around 8:30am. The man was identified as Cameron Powell who fell approximately 60 feet inside a tank that he was working in. He died after being transported to a Beaumont hospital.
