Last year Orangefield softball coach Amy McLaughlin (left) and Kayla Gallardo were on the same team. Gallardo is now in her first season as the Bridge City Lady Cardinals coach. Council Meets Tuesday
Orange City Councilor Pat Pullen wants the city to put the words "In God We Trust" on all city vehicles and the city council will consider the proposal Tuesday. Pullen, a retired Orange police captain, requested the action be put on the agenda for the meeting. According to the wording in the agenda, the council will discuss the God phrase and will be able to vote on it. Other business includes a second vote on new sign ordinances. On the morning of March 3 Tommy Lummus received a call from police that his truck was found in the middle of the road on Front St. in front of the Orange Police Dept. He left work to go home and get his spare keys to get the truck and when he arrived at his home on Bonham in West Orange, he discovered that three people broke into his home, stole numerous items and apparently used the truck to leave the scene. A 28-year-old man was seriously injured Friday afternoon when his motorcycle flipped over several times. Orange police report the accident was about 1:40 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of Simmons Drive near Blue Bird Fish Camp. Police said Haaymenton Sims of Ville Platte, Louisiana, was driving a Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Simmons. He lost control and went off the roadway, causing the motorcycle to flip. Carmel Boudreaux Norton of Baytown, Texas, fulfilled the promise of eternal life given to her 93 years earlier by our Lord. She passed away peacefully on March 4, 2016. On Friday Dishon, a senior outfielder hitting .219 with 7 RBI's and 2 stolen bases, hit one over the fence in the Rebels 7-3 win over Ball State. Orangefield's Austin Moore won the 198# Division at the Regional Powerlifting Meet and set records doing it.
