Unfortunately they didn't win many games but there's no denying the talent of Eriel Jordan of WOS. Her play takes you back to Lady Mustangs heyday with "The Brittany's." Hopefully she'll have the chance to play at the next level. In my opinion Sheridan Rogers was one of the most consistent players I saw this year, she just needed the ball. Alice Irene Thomason Theriot, 97, passed to eternal life on March 9, 2016. She was born on April 7, 1918 in Brayden, Oklahoma to Alta Mae Gibson Thomason and Walter James Thomason. Her father died three months before her birth in the Influenza Epidemic of 1918. Alice and her family moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where she lived until the age of nine when she moved to Port Arthur, Texas. Issie Iola Lee, of Orange, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Kindred Medical Center in Houston, Texas at the age of 71. Issie was born on June 17, 1944 to Lillian Oriette (Lowe) and Millard Arlington Russell in Marsh Harbour, Abaco Island, The Bahamas. She lived in Texas for the past 49 years, most recently in Ratcliff, TX, with prior stays in Deweyville, TX, Jasper, TX, and Lufkin, TX. She was a member of the Ratcliff Baptist Church. Wreck At Sunset and 16th
A collision at 16th Street and Sunset Drive at 4 p.m. Monday sent two people to the local hospital emergency room. Orange police report that a Honda Civic driven by 16-year-old Hailey Nicole Bishop of Vidor was driving southbound in the outside lane of 16th Street. A Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck driven by 82-year-old Thomas Penn Johnson of Orange was on Sunset Drive. Police report the pickup truck had a green light and was turning left onto northbound 16th Street when the two vehicles collided. Orange City Councilor Essie Bellfield, who turns 84 in May, said she attended the council meeting to support the slogan "In God We Trust." "I'm sick but I'm here," she said. She wants to see the slogan placed "where ever we can do it." The Orange City Council voted unanimously, with all members present, to put "In God We Trust" on all city vehicles. Commissioners Seek Bids
Commissioners approved advertising for bids on three items during their meeting Tuesday. The first item was on furnishing waste oil and filter recycling service for the county. The purchasing agent Connie Cassidy will also go out for bids on uniform cleaning for the Sheriff’s Office. Lastly, the Commissioners Court approved advertising for proposals on the National Flood Insurance Program. Missy Pillsbury the Risk Management Coordinator for the county explains the program. Couple Found In Storage Unit
On March 1 the Pinehurst Police Department was dispatched to a mini storage facility located in the 3500 block of West Park in Pinehurst in reference to suspicious circumstances. A white male and a white female were found to be asleep inside of a storage unit while a 2 year old child wandered around the grounds unattended. The white female, later identified as Meagan Danielle Lonion, 22, was awakened and found to be intoxicated on an unknown substance. She was arrested for Public Intoxication. The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is monitoring a large band of showers and thunderstorms across southeast Texas Tuesday afternoon. Between half an inch and one inch has already fallen in this area. Southeast winds of 20 to 25 mph were gusting over 30 mph across our entire region. A tornado watch is in effect for southeast Texas and western Louisiana until 6 pm.
