SRA asks people to send comments to federal commission The Sabine River Authority agencies of Texas and Louisiana are asking people to contact a federal commission about changes to water release rules at Toledo Bend Reservoir. The two agencies said the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission sets the rules for releasing water from the reservoir dam. The dam has two electrical generators, though only one has been operating in the past weeks. Orangefield ISD was awarded a $9,837.08 cash incentive from the Entergy Texas SCORE Program for lighting upgrades. The SCORE Program helps organizations save energy and money by providing no-cost facility improvement recommendations and financial incentives based on energy savings. Orangefield ISD was able to streamline their LED lighting upgrade by partnering with Graybar Electric, an enrolled participating contractor in the Entergy Solutions Program. Debris Cleanup
County and City officials met with FEMA and the Texas Department of Emergency Management Friday to get details on proceeding with the cleanup following March’s flood disaster. The meeting was in the Orange County Convention and Expo Center. Orange County will pick up debris starting Monday, April 4, through Friday, April 22 in the affected unincorporated areas of the county. Multiple passes will be done through the April 22 deadline. Mauriceville Gets Marker
The late Dr. Howard Williams, chair of the Orange County Historical Commission for decades, had a goal of marking every community in the county with a Texas Historical Marker. Sunday, the marker for Mauriceville will be dedicated at the middle school. The dedication will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and the public is invited. The suffix “ville” is a name for a place and the president of the Orange and Northwestern Railroad, Leopold Miller, named it for his son.
