Orange police arrested a 22-year-old man after a chase in SUVs and on foot. Police said Lane Edward Evans of Orange will face a third degree felony charge because he has a previous conviction of evading arrest. Officer J.J. Baggett reported he was patrolling about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday and saw a GMC Yukon "driving erratically" in the parking lot of the Best Texas Inn and Suites off Interstate 10. Murder For Hire Sentenced
128th District Judge Courtney Arkeen on Tuesday sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for solicitation of capital murder and possession of drugs. 44-year-old Samuel Clark McLellan pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the punishment of 20 years for each charge. Assistant District Attorney Phillip Smith said the sentences will be served concurrently. McLellan and 32-year-old Ann Marie Gilbeaux were charged with the solicitation and possession in October. The lowest score was an 86. The perfect scores included two schools, West Orange-Stark High and Bridge City Middle, along with Once Upon a Time Child Care in Bridge City. For the third time the Commissioners Court Wednesday took no action on approving the third party financing for an energy efficiency project to be done in the county by Way Service.
