Work To Begin At Depot
Trains haven't stopped in years at the old Southern Pacific Railroad depot, but the building is about to start bustling. The renovation and restoration construction is ready to begin. The non-profit group Friends of the Orange Depot have set a ground-breaking ceremony for Saturday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at the site, Green Avenue at 11th Street in downtown Orange. Rescar Agreement Approved
A two-year extension of the in-lieu-of-tax agreement between the City of West Orange and Rescar was approved by the City Council Monday. Mayor Roy McDonald said the agreement is similar to those West Orange has with other industries in its extra territorial jurisdiction. McDonald stated the city negotiates the same rate of in-lieu-of-tax for all of them. The agreement will run from January 2017 to the end of December 2018. Roberts Arrested On Drug Charge
On April 11 Officers with the City of Orange Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 3669 Hemlock in Orange. Upon executing the search warrant the resident, Larry Roberts Jr was located on the property. A search of the residence was conducted and an amount of a clear crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine and a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was located. Wreck On MacArthur Saturday
Three people had non-incapacitating injuries Saturday after a collision in the 2600 block of MacArthur Drive. Orange police report that one of the drivers ran a stop sign on Henrietta Street and crashed into a van. Police reported the collision was about 1:30 p.m. with 49-year-old James Prince of West Orange traveling north on Henrietta Street in a Ford Focus. A Chevrolet van driven by 51-year-old Todd Granger of Bridge City was traveling east in the middle lane of MacArthur.
