The Baylor Bears ended Lamar's 15 game win streak Wednesday in Waco with a come from behind 6-3 win. Baylor catcher Matt Menard, the junior from Bridge City, had a hand in defeating the Cards going 2-4 with 2 RBI's. Menard is having his best statistical season so far with a .338 batting average. 175 Buildings Had Water
Orange City Manager Dr. Shawn Oubre said 175 properties in the city limits had water inside during the recent Sabine River flood. Oubre told the Orange City Council the city staff surveyed buildings to make the assessment. Parts of the city were under a mandatory evacuation during the week of March 13 because of the flooding. Oubre said he appreciates citizens cooperating and he encourages all businesses and citizens affected to register with FEMA or the Small Business Administration. A Deweyville woman staying at a house in Orange with her children had her purse stolen sometime Monday night. Orange police report the purse held cash, a man's wedding band, a woman's wedding band, a James Avery ring, plus FEMA paperwork plus the Social Security cards for the woman and her two children. The man's ring is described as white gold with a cross design. The woman's ring is also white gold and has tiny diamonds. The James Avery ring had a belt buckle design. Harley Has New Position
At the end of the basketball season in February, then LCM basketball coach Darin Harley told KOGT this season would be his last after 11 seasons and 7 postseason appearances with the Bears. At the time he didn't know what he would be doing next other than moving north to join his wife who had taken a new job.
