Auto/Ped Involves 2 Year Old
At approximately 6:00pm Friday, there was an auto-pedestrian crash that occurred in the Denbow Mobile Home Park on FM 1131 in Orange County. According to witnesses, a gray Chevrolet SUV was traveling within the mobile home park when a small child ran into the street. The vehicle struck the child and left the crash scene. Witness stated that the driver appeared to be a white male. The 2-year-old child was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital. The Mauriceville Middle School Track Team placed several students in the recent District track meet. One the eighth grade team Colton McIlwain earned First in the 800 meter and in the 1200 meter run. He took Second in the triple and the long jumps. Tyler Rhodes was Third in the 1200 meter run and Mason Napier earned Third in the 200 hurdles. The 7th grade team won the district title. Dorothy Marie Rost, of Orange, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at her home in Orange, at the age of 87. Dorothy was born on July 12, 1928, in Fairfax, Virginia, to parents Kathleen M. (Griffith) and Alton E. Thompson. She had lived in the Orange area for 63 years and was a member of the Orange First Church of the Nazarene. An 80-year-old man was seriously injured Thursday in a collision of two pickup trucks on FM 1130 at Dewitt Lane about 11 a.m. Orange police report Bobby Denham of Orange was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Lt. Keaton said Denham was driving a Dodge Ram 2500 southbound on FM 1130 when he turned left to go to Dewitt. According to Lt. Keaton, the Ram turned into the path of a Chevrolet pickup driven by 67-year-old Floyd Thornal that was traveling northbound on FM 1130. Orange police are investigating a hit-and-run collision on Sunset Drive by the country club Wednesday afternoon. A woman accused of driving the Lexus that hit a pickup truck did not stop and the pickup driver followed her to a business. She evaded him by walking out another door of the business. Officer Claybar reported the collision was about 5:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Sunset Drive.
