Kenneth William Erb, of Nederland, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Lake Arthur Place in Port Arthur, at the age of 74. Kenneth was born on April 8, 1942 to parents Marie (Riddiman) and George Raymond Erb. He had lived in the Nederland area for over 50 years. Kenneth served in the US Army as a young man and then worked as a Safety Specialist at Huntsman Chemical for 38 years. Kenneth was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both fishing and hunting. Atchley Missing
The Orange County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a white male, Jason Douglas Atchley who is 34 years of age. Jason Atchley was report missing last Thursday, April 14, 2016. Jason was last seen riding a 4-wheeler in the old Highway 87 area in the northeast area of Orange County. The 4-wheeler was found abandoned on the side of old Highway 87 in Southern Newton County. Streets Resurfaced in Orange
Parts of Second Street and Meeks Drive will be getting new asphalt surfaces soon. The Orange City Council awarded a low-bid contract to L D Construction of Beaumont to do the job at a cost of $273,000. Public Works Director Jim Wolf said Second Street will get the coating from John Avenue to Pine Avenue, about 2,000 linear feet. He said the project will not extend the surface all the way to Green Avenue. The city a couple of years ago started resurfacing Meeks Drive at International. Smash/Grab Investigation Continues
Orange police have been working with the Beaumont Police Department to investigate the recent smash-and-grab thefts at convenience stores. Early Friday morning, another Beaumont store was hit but the thieves failed to get the ATM that was the target. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said investigators from Orange went to Beaumont to meet with detectives there to exchange and compare information.
