On Thursday, April 14, from 6-8:00 p.m. Orangefield High School Interact welcomed other Interact clubs in the Region 5 and Rotary District 5910 area for a mixer. Special guests included guest speaker Shilo Herrington from Love Lunch Sack Ministry, Rotary District 5910 incoming assistant Governor George Newsome, as well as other Rotarians. Area teams are trying to catch up after heavy rains this week. The LCM softball lost to Silsbee 3-0 Thursday in a make up game from Tuesday. They were off Friday will play at Hardin-Jefferson Monday at 4:30pm. LCM baseball lost to Silsbee 6-2 Friday and will face H-J in a make up game on Monday. Bridge City baseball came back to beat WOS 5-3 Friday(See story below). Saturday BC defeated Hardin-Jefferson 3-2 in 8 innings. Southeast Texas has had its share of weather-related disasters in the past few years. This weekend, people in Texas can stock up on emergency supplies without paying the sales tax. The state comptroller has set a tax-free weekend beginning today and running through Sunday for the purchase of emergency preparedness supplies. Preliminary autopsy results have revealed that the body found Thursday in southern Newton County is the body of Jason Atchley who had been reported missing a week ago on April 15th. The body was found in a wooded area off of Old Hwy 87 just north of the Orange County line.
