Man Hit With Stray Bullet
A 59-year-old man sleeping on the couch in his apartment was shot in the arm early Friday by a stray bullet from a shooting outside. A younger man outside was hit by multiple gunshots. Both are in stable condition at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont and are expected to survive, Orange police report. The shooting was about 2:30 a.m. at the Sabine Park Apartments, formerly The Oaks, at 111 Pine Avenue. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the man shot in the arm is Donald Freeman, who lives at the apartments. This will be a big weekend for a 2006 graduate of Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School. Chase Murray will be competing in the National Hot Rod Association’s drag races in Baytown. He is hoping to make a big impression. Murray has always been interested in motors, cars, and racing. He started practicing with a junior racer in the old Sears parking lot when he was only six years old and began organized racing when he was eight. His dad Walter serves as Murray’s chief mechanic.
