The LCM Bears broke open a 4-4 tie in the top of the seventh with 5 runs in a 9-4 win over Caldwell Friday at Summer Creek HS in Houston. All five runs were scored on doubles. Small Fire During Power Loss
Several neighborhoods in Orange had power go out multiple times Thursday night. At approximately 9 o’clock the Philback Substation located at the Orion Carbon Black plant in Echo had a small fire which knocked out the power there. That caused a chain reaction which temporarily knocked out power to the Cordrey and Front Street substations. In minutes power was restored to the substations on Cordrey and Front. A dream that has been in the works for almost four years will start to come true this week. Kelly Meadows the Director for Health Services with the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Schools is the project coordinator for Stay and Play. Meadows believes when completed it will be the only such playground at a school in Southeast Texas. Meadows the school nurse and Rachel Choate the Life Skills Instructor at Little Cypress Intermediate School had the dream in October 2012 for a place that their special friends could go outside to play and be safe. Former Dairy To Receive Marker
Plastic bottles of milk now line refrigerator sections of superstores. The convenience is an evolution of the days when people had to have a cow or buy milk from a neighbor to have the creamy beverage at the supper table. The Orange County Historical Commission is honoring the dairy industry with a state historical marker. The marker is being installed at the Old Orange Cafe, 914 W. Division in downtown. The West Orange -Stark Mustangs defeated Giddings 3-2 Thursday to take game one of the best of three series held at Porter High School. Jack Dallas pitched a complete game, striking out 11 and walking only one. But his best throw may have been to second base.
