Putting Properties Back On Tax Roll
Orange County is trying to get some properties back on the tax rolls. The county held a sale of over 30 properties last month that were taken possession of for delinquent taxes. Tax Assessor-Collector Lynda Gunstream is working to facilitate the process of getting these trust properties back to paying taxes. She is trying to make it possible to have a quicker turnaround for trust properties with a resolution to different tax entities in the county. The resolution would allow properties when sold to only need the Commissioners Court to approve the bid for a sale. Walker Sentenced To 42 Years
A jury Wednesday in the 163rd State District Court spent about 30 minutes to decide a woman involved in the December 2014 shootout at a house on Ridgemont Drive was guilty of engaging in organized criminal activity. The jury then met again to assess a punishment of 42 years in prison for 37-year-old Kenyatta Walker of Orange. She was one of the residents living in the house at 3733 Ridgemont Drive. Accident Kills Jasper Man
On Wednesday, June 8, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Orange County DPS troopers responded to the scene of a two vehicle crash on SH 62 at the intersection of North Ridge Drive. The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2005 International truck was stopped and facing north on SH 62 waiting to turn left onto North Ridge Drive when it was struck from behind by a 2014 Dodge van.
