Lamar “Coco” Hardin of Orange, TX, passed away at the age of 92 on June 6, 2016 at his residence. Born in Abbeville, LA, on July 16, 1923, to Frank and Rosa Hardin. Coco was the only one of 12 siblings to be born in a hospital. Coco served in the United States Army during World War II. After serving in the Army, Coco went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he later retired after 38 years of service. May Building Permits In Orange
The Orange Depot restoration was the most expensive project that received a building permit in the city of Orange during May. The non-profit group Friends of the Orange Depot received a building permit for $437,000 worth of work. The contractor is Jack Elliott of Orange. The city issued a total of six commercial permits worth a total of $625,000. Some of the permits were to repair flood damage to businesses along the Interstate 10 access road. Texas BOOM 06 Saturday June 5 won the 10U USFA State Championship as an all first year 10U roster. BOOM 06 would did it behind a defense that did not give up a run during bracket play . Mott Appointed To BC Seat
The newest member of the City Council in Bridge City was sworn in Tuesday evening. Kevin Mott was appointed last month to fill the Place 1 seat on the council which became vacant when David Rutledge was elected mayor of Bridge City. Mott returns to a familiar seat on the City Council. Previously term limits forced Mott not to seek reelection as the Place 1 Alderman after nine years on the City Council.
