The Orange Animal Shelter may soon be sending some of its adoptable dogs and cats to the Southeast Texas Humane Society in Beaumont. Orange Fire Chief David Frenzel, who oversees the city's shelter, said the Beaumont group asked to get some of the Orange animals. The Humane Society draws more people to increase the chances of adoption, he said. The Orange City Council on Tuesday will vote to approve a resolution allowing the Humane Society to take the animals and accept responsibility for spaying or neutering. Trailer with Four-Wheelers Stolen From Driveway A family in the Thousand Oaks neighborhood had a utility trailer with three four-wheeler vehicles stolen from their driveway Thursday night. Orange police went to the 5100 block of Twin Oaks Street about 5:30 Friday morning after the theft was discovered. The red, 20-foot utility trailer was loaded with a green Honda Ranger, a green and black Honda Rubicon, and a yellow Honda Foreman, according to police. Department heads gave the Commissioners Court their requests for capital outlay items during next fiscal year at a workshop Thursday morning. New copiers and scanners were requested by several departments. MIS which handles the computers for all county offices requested three Dell servers as well as laptops and tablets for several departments. Friday the BC 10's won the championship and now move on to State. BC's 10U Little League All-Star Sectional Tournament started on Tuesday, July 5th in Bridge City. Bobcat Track Under Construction
The Bobcats are getting a new track. Trustees with the Orangefield School District this month approved paying for a major renovation of the track facility at the high school. Superintendent Dr. Stephen Patterson said the track has been in disrepair for several years, and Orangefield has not hosted a track meet for seven years because of the poor condition of the facility. Orangefield voters approved the tax ratification election in October 2015. Accident on FM 1130
Two young women escaped injury early Tuesday morning when their car went off FM 1130, rolled over and landed in a ditch. Orange police report the driver tried to avoid a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The rollover was about 5:30 a.m. at a curve in the 8900 block FM 1130. The city of Orange had the largest building permit issued in June within the city limits. G&G Enterprises took out the permit for $122,000 addition to the fire station on Allie Payne Road. Also, the city issued permits to demolish 15 dilapidated houses in town. The addresses are: 1008 College, 407 Bilbo, 3744 Ridgemont Drive, 1408 N. Juvenile Sent To Detention
A teenager was sent to the juvenile detention center in Beaumont Wednesday after a man was cut with a kitchen knife. Orange police described the cut as about two to three inches long and "shallow." The incident was about 4:15 p.m. at a house on Sunset Circle B. Orange police reported two teens at the house were arguing and a man living at the house told them to go in the back yard. One of the youth picked up a serrated kitchen knife. When the man asked what he had behind his back, the teen tried to stab him. The knife went across the man's shoulder and cut his back.
