The Commissioners Court awarded Tuesday the contract for inmate telephone service at the Orange County Jail to Global Tel*Link Corporation. Sheriff Keith Merritt said he thought the offer was a good one for the county. Commissioners also renewed the agreement for another year between the county and Sholars Medicine Chest for bulk prescription drugs at the jail. There will be no changes in the agreement according to County Purchaser Connie Cassidy. Sulphur police have arrested 29-year-old Michael Ray Thomas of Orange on a variety of charges including possession and distribution of illegal drugs, illegal possession of a firearm, illegally carrying a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest. Meantime Burglars hit a house in the Treemont neighborhood during the daytime Monday. BC Juniors Headed To New Mexico for Regionals
Wednesday: BC 10's lose in the State Finals to Post Oak. BC Juniors were up 8-4 and hung on in 10 innings to beat West 13-12 to advance to New Mexico for Regionals. Both the BC 10's and Juniors lost Tuesday night but will get a shot at winning their respective tournaments Wednesday in Tyler. The Bridge City 12's attempt to make it to Waco fell short Monday after losing to Lamar National. Sunday the 12's were defeated by Pearland. Back to School Orange County is holding a free event for children of Orange County on August 13th at Lamar State College-Orange from 9 am – 12 noon. Born in Orange, Texas, on September 22, 1925, he was the son of Oscar Matthew Guillotte and Blanche (Daigle) Guillotte. He retired from DuPont Sabine River Works after many years of loyal service.
