Part of Meeks Drive is blocked off for road construction. Orange Public Works Director Jim Wolf said a contractor is repaving an area from about 200 feet north of International Drive up to Allie Payne Road. Wolf said the city hired a contractor for the work. The repaving of the section should take about a week, depending on whether. The project begins pulling up the existing surface. Orange County restaurants and food businesses were scoring high in the last part of July with all but two earning 'A's. Health Inspector James Scales went to 17 food businesses and gave three perfect scores. The lowest score was an 82 and went to the Honey Stop convenience store, 1012 West Park Avenue in Orange. Demerits included heavy mold and slime inside the ice machine. The scores of 100 went to Fastbreak store on North Main Street in Vidor, Econolodge Inn and Suites in Bridge City and Taco Bell on North Main Street in Vidor. She is an associate of the black male subject shown in the foreground, who has been identified. At approximately 12:00 pm Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call for assistance on a welfare concern at the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge. When Orange County Deputies arrived, they were advised a white female had been rescued from the water by workers that had been in a boat working under the bridge. The 54 year old was taken by Acadian Ambulance to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas - St. Mary’s where she was pronounced deceased. Orange police are investigating two stabbings, though neither victim was seriously hurt. The first was reported at 10:51 Friday night at the Pilot Travel Center on Highway 62 south of Interstate 10. A Vidor man received two small puncture wounds to his head during an argument. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said two men and a woman traveled in two different vehicles to Pilot. They left their vehicles and began arguing. Police reported the man believed to have stabbed the victim was from Beaumont and drove away before officers arrived.
