She is an associate of the black male subject shown in the foreground, who has been identified. Woman Jumps From Bridge
At approximately 12:00 pm Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call for assistance on a welfare concern at the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge. When Orange County Deputies arrived, they were advised a white female had been rescued from the water by workers that had been in a boat working under the bridge. The 54 year old was taken by Acadian Ambulance to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas - St. Mary’s where she was pronounced deceased. Scam Resurfaces
Pinehurst Police Chief Fred R. Hanauer III would like to warn all citizens about a scam that has re-surfaced in our area. The scam, which usually targets elderly individuals, begins with the victim receiving a telephone call from someone purporting to be a family member, usually a grandchild, claiming to be in jail and in need of bail money. Bobcats Start Workouts
Monday was the start of workouts for local high school football teams. Coach Josh Smalley of the Orangefield Bobcats says the first day went pretty good. Smalley adds the Bobcats have lost some leadership with three year starters Matthew Watkins, Austin Moore, and Brandon Bray graduating so Orangefield will need some new kids to step up as team leaders. The Bobcats made the playoffs last season and will use the same offense and defense again this season. Police Investigate Two Stabbings
Orange police are investigating two stabbings, though neither victim was seriously hurt. The first was reported at 10:51 Friday night at the Pilot Travel Center on Highway 62 south of Interstate 10. A Vidor man received two small puncture wounds to his head during an argument. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said two men and a woman traveled in two different vehicles to Pilot. They left their vehicles and began arguing. Police reported the man believed to have stabbed the victim was from Beaumont and drove away before officers arrived.
