Samuel Truett Anderson, Sr., 87, of Orange, passed away on August 5, 2016, at the Meadows Nursing Home in Orange. Born in Orange, Texas, on January 28, 1929, he was the son of Samuel Wallace Anderson and Nellie (Maddox) Anderson. He was a musician and his passion was playing the guitar. He was a tug boat captain and worked at Higman Towing and most recently at Texas Molton Transport, where he retired from in 1990. The Mauriceville Middle School Twirlcatz are in their third year at the school and are improving with experience. The group and their sponsor, Kristin Robinson, attended twirling camp for five days in July, where the girls learned three new routines. City Makes Adjustments For Truck Wash
The city of Orange plans to begin annexing 5.3 acres along Highway 62 north of Interstate 10 to accommodate a Blue Beacon Truck Wash station. City Planning Director Kelvin Knauf said the business plans to hire 60 employees. On Tuesday, the City Council meets at 9 a.m. and will vote on a resolution to begin the annexation process. Nursing Home Eyes Bridge City
Bridge City could be getting a skilled nursing home in the near future. Jeff Rhodes the president of the Rhoman Group spoke to the City Council in Bridge City this week. Rhodes said his group is applying to the state for permission to build a 100-bed facility in Orange County. The Rhoman Group has applied for construction of the nursing home in Orange County. Rhodes admitted the application would allow construction anywhere in the county, but their corporate studies showed logistics and everything led back to Bridge City as the preferred site for the nursing home.
