OPD Involved In Accident
Around 10am on Friday an Orange Police Officer was involved in an accident on MacArthur Drive. The officer was eastbound when a man in a Toyota Tundra pickup pulled out of Katherine St. The patrol unit struck the back half of the drivers side of the pickup, spinning it around, and he struck a GMC truck traveling west on MacArthur. The officer and the man in the Toyota were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Sherry “MiMi” Lee Flowers was a caring daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world surrounded by her family in Beaumont, Texas on October 8, 2024, at age 75. She was born to Jim and Dean Self on July 27, 1949, in Batesville, Arkansas. Sherry worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as a Civil and Warrant secretary for 23 years. She then retired and lived in Orange for the remainder of her life. She loved spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. A reminder that Orange County and surrounding counties are under a Burn Ban. And with the forecast, it could be here for a while. The conditions couldn't be much worse with dry ground, low humidity, and wind. Please do not burn outside. OCESD 4, 3, 1, and Deweyville had to battle this fire in north OC and luckily kept it from reaching the woods nearby. Weekly Fishing Report Week of October 16, 2024 Toledo BendFAIR. Water normal stain; 85 degrees; 4.35 feet below pool. We finally have cooler air moving into East Texas with big wind in the forecast out of the north. Water temperature is running in the low to mid 80s right now, but will fall in the next couple days. The shallow fish can be caught on chatterbaits, swimbaits and swim jigs. These baits good from the bank to 4 feet of water around shallow grass and stumps.
