With a little over two weeks before the start of the high school football season the Bridge City Cardinals are looking for an opponent to play in the sixth week of the season. Coach Dwayne DuBois said he is not happy about Brock High School the defending champions in Class 3A, Division I dropping out in Week 6, however, he added the Cardinals will make the most of the situation. Orange police are looking for a man who fired a pistol shot into the Honey Stop convenience store Sunday night. No one was hurt. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said a black man wearing a black mask and black clothing opened the door at the store, fired the shot then ran out. The shooting was about 10:15 Sunday night. The store is at 1011 West Park Avenue at 10th Street. The man was seen running northbound on 10th Street. Groundbreaking for a one-of-a-kind school playground was done in May at Little Cypress Intermediate School (LCI). With the start of the school year just weeks away the local play area is nearly complete.
