Bridge City received good news and bad news this week regarding the color of the water citizens are using in their homes. The city is hoping to have more good news for its citizens in the next few weeks. At the City Council meeting this week Skipper Nixon complemented the city on the clarity of the water coming from the faucet in his bathroom. About 60 veterans attended a town hall meeting at the North Orange Baptist Church Thursday night. Congressman Brian Babin was the head speaker joined by representatives from the Office of Veterans Affairs which met at the conclusion of the meeting with individual veterans. Congressman Babin believes the federal government needs to keep its promises made to the veterans. WOS, Vidor Scrimmage At The Butch
The WOS Mustangs and Vidor Pirates took their talents to The Butch in Beaumont Thursday for the final scrimmage of the 2016 campaign. The two played a full game and WOS won 35-19. The Pirates moved the ball but were unsuccessful scoring until the second half where the backups scored 12 of the 19 points. The Mustangs big play capability added quick scores in the first half where they built a 28-7 lead. Man Shoots Himself Near OPD
On August 18, 2016 at 16:19 hrs. an Orange PD detective discovered a white male in a parking lot just north of the Orange Police Department, 303 8th St. A 31 year old white male was discovered in a vehicle with what appears to be a single gunshot to the head. The male was conscious and responding to officers. The male was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The Bridge City Cardinals made the playoffs last season in the first year with Dwayne DuBois as head coach. DuBois was happy with his first year as the Cardinals’ coach, but not satisfied.
