Phillip Everette Maynard, 63, of Orange, passed away at his home on Friday, October 18th, 2024. A longtime resident of Vidor, Phillip proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines. His work ethic and mechanical skills led him to a career as a manager and mechanic at Meineke Muffler Shop in Pasadena, TX. Phillip had a passion for reading, especially the western novels of Louis L'Amour. He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing or simply enjoying nature, but his greatest joy came from being with his family. The Bridge City High School Alumni Association has selected two outstanding alumni for the 2024 Distinguished Alumni award. Cindy Claybar and Judge John Gothia were presented with plaque at the high school homecoming football game October 18 then again at the annual Classic Cardinal Reunion on October 19. Kathryn LaRue Vessel, 74, passed away on October 15. 2024 at her home in Crossroads, TX. She was born on April 12, 1950, in Orange, TX to Jean and Mary Ann (Retherford) Coon. Kathy graduated in 1969 from West Orange High School and went onto work for the city of Houston then returned to Orange, TX where she was employed at Blunt Brothers.
