The West Orange-Stark defense was stellar Friday night in their 45-0 win over Little Cypress-Mauriceville. Besides pitching their second shutout in as many games, they held the Bears to just 64 yards of offense and four first downs. KJ Miller started things off for WOS with a 64 yd. punt return, followed by a Chad Dallas field goal from 25 yds to make it 9-0. The Cardinals defeated the North Forest Bulldogs 56-12 at Bridge City’s Larry B. Ward Stadium. Even playing without its leading ball carrier Cayce Draper from Week 1, Bridge City (2-0) needed only one pass on the night as it ran up 493 yards on the ground. Bobcats Fall Short vs. Kirbyville
The Orangefield Bobcats traveled to Kirbyville and gave the Wildcats a tough game but a couple of big plays offensively proved the difference as OF dropped to 1-1 with a 21-7 loss. Kirbyville's' main man Joseph Fentress was held to just 21 yards on 4 carries but he had a 64 yd catch and run for a touchdown. After working for months writing and editing her first children's book, Latitta Waggoner- BCI's Functional Academics Paraprofessional, published her first children's book! Pay Raise Effective Oct. 1
As of Tuesday’s vote by the Commissioners Court most elected county officials will get a pay raise effective October 1. The deciding vote for the proposed salaries for elected officials was cast by Commissioner Barry Burton who said it was not a decision he made quickly. The Commissioner who was also the swing vote on increasing the proposed tax rate to 60.32 cents per $100 valuation on August 9 indicates he wants to keep the county’s options open until all the budget figures are final. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Antioch Cemetery in Florien, Louisiana.
