Bassmaster Open Coming To Orange

From the lakes of central Florida in mid-January to the Ozark Plateau of Oklahoma in early October, bass tournament anglers will find a variety of dates, locations and fisheries to challenge them in the 2017 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens Series schedule, which B.A.S.S. announced Wednesday. The winner of each Open earns a berth in the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro, contingent upon his or her fishing the other two events in that Opens division. Bears Look For First Win

Entering Week 3 of the football season the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears are looking for their first win.  LC-M has lost the services of linebacker Hunter Fontenot for at least another week after he was injured in the season opener against Jasper. Orange Building Permits Includes Restaurant

A Dickie's Barbecue restaurant is coming to Orange. The city of Orange issued a building permit in August for construction of the new 2,316 square-foot building valued at $371,695. It will be along the Interstate 10 access road on the eastbound side between 23rd Street and 16th Street. The address is listed as 2327 Lutcher Drive, east of the State Line Chevron at the intersection with 23rd Street. The permit was issued to Abdul Rahman Holding, AKA Dickie's Barbecue. The Board of Directors of the Nelda C. and H.J. Pirates Host River Bowl

The Deweyville Pirates have answered the challenge from their Coach Lance Dale to play more intense and do their jobs on the field.  Coach Dale says the Pirates are not only doing their jobs, but are getting better at it each week. Boat Races Back In Orange Sept. 16-18

The Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting the 9th annual “Showdown on the Sabine” SPORT Tunnel Boat Races. This event will be held September 16 – 18 at the City of Orange Boat Ramp from 3 P.M. – 6 P.M. on September 16 and 9 A.M. – 5 P.M. on September 17 – 18. Nona Janeaux, 70, of Orange, Texas, passed away on September 5, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Denton Speaks To Kids

Officer Ronnie Denton from Bridge City Police, came and spoke to BCE's 1st graders Tuesday. He spoke about how police officers are one of the many community helpers and how students should not be afraid to ask them for help. He also explained what a policeman carries on their belt and about gun safety. He also talked to the students about their part in bus safety. His lecture reinforces the 1st grade Social Studies unit on Community & Citizenship.
