Mary "Margaret" Stephens Romeis, a longtime resident of Orange, Texas, passed from this life and went Home to her eternal reward September 11th, 2016. She was 82. Born October 25th, 1933 in Cedartown, Georgia, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. YMBL Volleyball Results

The Deweyville Lady Pirates became back to back champions of the small school portion of the YMBL tournament this week.  They defeated Burkeville, Anahuac, Woodville, and Hardin on Saturday to capture the 2016 YMBL championship.  All tournament members for the team were Sr Gabby Dupuy, Jr Brooke Smith, and Jr Maddy Berry.  Kennidee Willis was named the tournament MVP.   LCM finished fifth WOS finished 2-2 in the tournament, losing to LCM for the fifth place spot. WOS RB Jeremiah Shaw is the Granger Chevrolet/KOGT Radio Player of the Games.  Shaw rushed 8 times for 126 yards and scored twice.  He also had 3 catches for 38 yards and a touchdown as WOS shutout BC 55-0. Cindy "Copper"  Nesbitt, 59, of Vidor died Friday, September 9th, 2016 at her Vidor residence. A native of Beaumont, TX, she was a lifetime resident of Vidor. Copper was a member and the camera operator for Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. She was an avid collector of all types of eagles and has a massive collection. Copper loved being outdoors were she enjoyed camping and fishing, bonfires and good cookouts at family gatherings. She loved to work in her yard and was always there to give a helping hand to anybody that need one. Where Were You, 15 Years Ago?

Lorene Camp of Pinehurst was celebrating her 74th birthday with a trip to New York City. While she was in flight, the pilot came on with an announcement that shook her and everyone else on board. A jetliner had flown into the World Trade Center. "Oh, Lord, we were scared," she said Friday remembering September 11 fifteen years ago. The pilot came back on the speaker system and told the passengers a second jet had hit in New York. "Everybody on the plane was grabbing their cell phone," she said.
