The Deweyville Lady Pirates became back to back champions of the small school portion of the YMBL tournament this week. They defeated Burkeville, Anahuac, Woodville, and Hardin on Saturday to capture the 2016 YMBL championship. All tournament members for the team were Sr Gabby Dupuy, Jr Brooke Smith, and Jr Maddy Berry. Kennidee Willis was named the tournament MVP. Lorene Camp of Pinehurst was celebrating her 74th birthday with a trip to New York City. While she was in flight, the pilot came on with an announcement that shook her and everyone else on board. A jetliner had flown into the World Trade Center. "Oh, Lord, we were scared," she said Friday remembering September 11 fifteen years ago.
