The Orangefield Bobcats lost a tough game last week and have lost the services of at least one key two-way starter because of an injury in that game. Coach Josh Smalley must read the medical report to see who will be available for the Bobcats this week. At the top of the list is starting quarterback and safety Caleb Kress who suffered a concussion in the second half of the LC-M game. When Lutcher Stark was 17, he started his freshman year at the University of Texas. He traveled by car from Orange to Austin with his mother and grandmother. The trip took three days. After all, it was 1904, a year when only the wealthy had automobiles and highways had not been developed. The next year, Stark became the first student at UT to have his own car at the campus. Robbery In West Orange Wednesday-video
West Orange police are asking the public to help catch a man who robbed the Sally's Beauty Supply store off Edgar Brown Drive near Walmart Wednesday morning. West Orange Assistant Police Chief Jesse Romero said the robbery was about 10:40 a.m. A man walked into the store and milled around. He then went to the clerk and laid a note down saying he had a gun and demanding money. Romero said the man did not show a weapon. The clerk gave him the money in the cash register and he left. Pirates Host Bobcats
The Deweyville Pirates rebounded from their first loss of the season two weeks ago with a decisive victory last week over Galveston O’Connell. This week the Pirates play the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats. Deweyville Coach Lance Dale says the Bobcats run a similar offense to the Pirates. Hull-Daisetta runs it offense from a Wing-T set and will feature many of the same plays Deweyville uses also from the Wing-T. The Bobcats according to Dale vary their formations up.
