Pirates Beat Bulldogs in OT Thriller

Every great drama has three acts and the Vidor Pirates saved their best for the final act. The Pirates proved to be the comeback kids on Friday night as Vidor defeated Nederland, 29-28, in overtime at Bulldogs Stadium in Nederland. Facing fourth and goal from the 8-yard line and trailing Nederland 28-21 in overtime, Vidor quarterback Maverick Quirante rolled to his right and found running back Haylon Leckelt at the goal line for a touchdown and brought the Pirates to within one point. Bobcats Blowout Kelly

Coming into Friday night the Orangefield Bobcats were on a three-game losing streak. Appearing to rewind the game video the Bobcats played like they did in the season opener and convincingly won 52-0 over the Beaumont Kelly Bulldogs at F. L. McClain Stadium. The victory was all the sweeter as it was homecoming for Orangefield on Friday night. Paris Fregia was announced as the Homecoming Queen during the halftime of the game. Man Drives Into Train

A 26-year-old man escaped injury when a train hit his pickup truck on Cordrey Avenue Thursday evening. Orange police report Shaun Nicholas McCall said he ran through the crossing signal because he had fallen asleep. The force when the train engine hit knocked the truck backward and woke him up, police reported. Police said the collision was at 7:12 p.m. Thursday. McCall was driving the Dodge Ram 1500 eastbound on Cordrey when the truck got on the tracks as the train was coming. Peggy Louise Caillavet passed away on September 22, 2016 with her family in Beaumont TX. She was loved by many and touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Cooking, reading, gardening, and watching golf was her favorite pastime. Peggy showed love to her family and friends that will forever be missed. In true giving fashion Peggy chose to donate her body to science in hopes of helping someone in the future. Peggy's marriage to Sid Caillavet Jr of 66 years was her biggest accomplishment.
